Hello, friends! Winston here. It sure is cold, and I have never been more grateful for my luxurious fur coat! While I sit here in my doghouse (my indoor doghouse, mind you), I think I’ll start on my list of resolutions for the new year. It’s never too late to make a change, and I can feel it right down to my paws that my New Year’s resolutions will make this my best year yet!
1. Keep Up With the Seasons
I say it every year: I’m going to refresh my doghouse decor and put more effort into changing the look of my surroundings with each season. But something always comes up! Whether it’s a squirrel, a nap, the doorbell—you know how it is. But this is the year! Right now, I’m accessorizing my living area with chunky knits, lots of pillows and some comforting Amber & Bergamot Trapp candles for the days I just want to read a book in bed (well, I mostly just chew on the corners). When spring gets here, I’m going to pack these heavy blankets away for some light linens and peruse what my people have at SampleHouse for the new season. Spring home goods like bright floral pillows (it’s like being outside!) and fresh scented candles like Voluspa’s Persimmon or French Cade and Lavender make me so excited for a whole new year!
2. Become Best in Show… in the Kitchen
I usually try to stick to dog food, but sometimes I want to spice things up a little. But not too much, because then my people pinch their noses around me. Anyway, SampleHouse always has so many cookbooks, so I think this year I will try to learn a few new things in the kitchen so I can pull my weight around here! I know I’ve seen volume three of SampleHouse’s very own cookbook on the shelf recently, so I’ll definitely pick that up. Next, I’m going to make Lisa Fain’s Homesick Texan cookbook my go-to for 2015! All those recipes for authentic Tex-Mex—I can feel another resolution forming!
3. Entertain More at Home
There it is! I knew my tail was wagging for a reason. I love the idea of inviting people over more often and showing them what I’ve learned. Not to mention the smells. (So many smells.) So next time I’m at SampleHouse with my people, I’m definitely going to stock up on all the adorable disposable place settings, hilarious cocktail napkins, drink markers and table decor I can hold in two paws.
Off I go to the store! I can’t wait to have all my friends over and show off these wonderful resolutions—which are so much easier and more fun than cardio. Happy New Year, friends!
