Hello, friends! Winston here.
It’s starting to warm up outside, which means spring is just around the corner! While that’s good news for you, it’s great news for me, because nothing makes a dog happier than being outside in the sunshine and fresh air.
One of my favorite things to do during the spring is to tag along with my humans to one of Dallas’s many pet-friendly bar and restaurant patios. Here are a few of my favorite spots for soaking up the sun and snagging some table scraps.
I have to be honest, Truck Yard makes me happy from my nose to my tail. Not only do the smells drive me wild (order a cheesesteak, trust me), but the casual, open backyard atmosphere makes for a whole afternoon’s worth of fun. Sit down at a communal picnic table, sip on a drink and meet some new people while your pup soaks up the sun — and the attention from other patrons.
Mutts Canine Cantina
Mutts Canine Cantina is like Disney World for dogs. This dog park/bar and restaurant features an entire acre of clean, fenced-in play area and menus for both people and their four-legged companions. (One Doggie Dessert for me, please.) Just be sure to glance over the dog park membership requirements and list of rules before you head out.
With a couple of locations around the Metroplex to choose from, Eatzi’s is convenient and dog-friendly. Eatzi’s patios are spacious, lively, and the perfect spot to hang out after a busy morning at the dog park. For humans, the self-serve options inside as well as the sandwich and salad counters have more options than you could shake a stick at.
Katy Trail Ice House
If you and your pup are the athletic type, head out for a run or bike ride on the 3.5 mile Katy Trail and refuel at the Katy Trail Ice House’s huge beer garden. Humans can choose from a wide range of draft beers, cocktails and burgers, while pooches can socialize with the many other four-legged visitors. Just be warned — this place is packed on sunny weekends!
