Pool days are most certainly here! And they’re here to stay for many, many weeks to come. That’s the great thing about Texas—the summer tends to last well into September and sometimes until Halloween. In order to have a successful day at the pool (and not have to run home every hour), you’ll need pack a great pool bag! Here are our SampleHouse tips on making sure your pool bag has all the essentials, and then some.
1. The Tote
Make sure your tote is big enough to handle your haul! Start with the perfectly sized tote to fit your needs, and your pool days will be a lot easier. We have a huge selection of tote bags in all colors, sizes and patterns for your pool excursion. Bright, summer prints and sturdy, reliable construction make these totes absolutely perfect for summer. And what’s better than the perfect tote? Two perfect totes, of course!
2. The Basics: Sunglasses, Sunblock, Water, Hat, Etc..
This is Texas, y’all! Protect every part of your body from the brutal heat and even more brutal sunburns with proper sunglasses, sunblock and a hat. Your fabulous new tote bag will have plenty of space for water, so drop a few cold bottles in there and stay hydrated. Even better, pick up a new tumbler for yourself at SampleHouse and beat the heat in style.
Don’t forget a cover up! We are completely head over heels in love with our new line of tunics for the summer. They are so versatile and comfortable, you might find yourself wanting one in every color. Make sure your pool bag has a tunic for when the heat of the day rolls around. Run out of snacks for the kiddos? Throw on a tunic and hop to the store without fear of burning your buns in the hot car. We’re all about stylish safety!
4. A Summer Read
You’re going to need something to pass the time, right? Right. We particularly love a great biography for the pool time. Every perfect pool bag should have two titles, especially if it’s going be one of those marathon pool days where the kids don’t want to get out. Don’t forget the bookmark—we can help with that, too!
If you’re feeding yourself or feeding little ones at the pool, the most important thing is to keep it light and full of powerful protein. As yummy as a big, cheesy burger is, filling foods like burgers, hot dogs, and even some sandwiches can make swimming a little difficult and you definitely don’t want to start cramping up halfway though the day. Stay on the healthy side with fruit, nuts, string cheese and even peanut butter to provide enough energy to keep on swimming. We love frozen grapes! They provide all the sweetness you crave and the frozen juice inside is a nice bonus on a hot summer day.
Happy pool days!
