It’s here, it’s here! Christmas is finally here! Well, almost. The chill in the air is certainly here, the twinkly lights and warm mugs of cocoa are here, and your to-do list is definitely here. Given the season, your to-do list probably includes buying a few gifts for your friends and family. Or a lot of gifts. Either way, we know buying gifts can be a little overwhelming with a list of 3 or 30. But Fear not, determined gift-giver, SampleHouse is here to help with a basic holiday gift guide for giving the perfect gift to your loved ones.
1. Pick your price point
If you have a long list of friends and family to whom you’d like to give a gift, the first step is to set a spending limit. You can accomplish this by setting a limit per person, or setting an overall limit that you’d like to stay under. Think ahead to your next billing cycle on the ol’ Visa and decide what you want to pay off come January. Depending on the number with which you’re comfortable, you can start to plan on what to give and to whom to give it. The good news is there are a ton of great gifts out there for very reasonable prices and you don’t have to break the bank to emerge from Christmas a victorious gift giver.
2. Make your list of recipients
There sure are a lot of social and family politics that go into making this list, and we certainly don’t have a blanket suggestion that will cover everyone, but this step has to be done before the first present is purchased. If you have a Christmas party on the horizon, you may want to give a glance to the invite and see if there will be a gift exchange. Our gift-giving games post might give you an idea of what will happen at a gift exchange, but the good news is you only have to choose one fun gift instead of 30 thoughtful gifts. Whew! So go ahead and make your list of lucky gift getters, we’ll wait.
3. Pick your stores
Now that your list of recipients is made (it wasn’t too painful, was it?), it’s time to make a plan. We certainly hope you’ll stop by SampleHouse and check out our huge inventory of perfect gifts for anyone on your list. We have beautiful aprons and gorgeous cookbooks for the chef in your house, picture frames and pillows for your design-obsessed friends, and bird houses and garden decorations for your favorite green thumb.
4. Who gets what? Start digging!
Maybe you have a couple of close friends who both love to knit? Get them both a few bundles of yarn of all different colors. Has your sister decided to learn how to cook in the new year? Some new cookware and an apron is a perfect way to set her up for success. Do ALL of your cousins just love love love the same football team? Team blankets for all! Everyone on your list has a hobby or a passion for something. Once you dig a little into their lives, your gift ideas will open up.
Following a few guidelines like creating a budget and picking your stores ahead of time will help you make quick decisions without breaking the bank. And as always, the gifting gurus at SampleHouse are here to help!
