Hi, friends—Winston here! Now that Valentine’s Day is officially over, I thought I’d check in and say hello. As your rose petals wrinkle and your box of chocolates dwindles, don’t forget about your one true love—your dog! Dogs only need some love and affection to keep our tails wagging, so here are a few ways you can tell your best friend just how much he means to you.
Spend some quality time
Ditch the dog walker for some quality time with your pup on your favorite trail. The weather has been pretty close to perfect lately, so take advantage of the warmer temps and let our paws loose! It seems like there are new dog parks popping up every month, so find the closest one to you and take your BFF (Best Furry Friend) to explore new friends, great smells and lots of room to run. Not only will it give your dog some exercise and help him sleep like a champ, the time spent together will truly strengthen your bond. So turn off that tiny computer thing that’s always in your hand and replace it with a leash.
Take me out
Is there such thing as National Take Your Dog To Work Day? Perhaps! These days, there are plenty of dog-friendly offices that let employees bring their four-legged kids to work. But if your place of work is still a pet-free zone, pick a spot and take your pal out on a special doggie date. I sure do love visiting pet stores, bookstores, restaurants and coffee shops with my people, so I’m sure your dog would love it, too! If you’re not sure if your favorite spot allows dogs, call them up! You’d be surprised by how many places are dog-friendly.
Talk to me!
Doggie dates, road trips and even a fun run through the park are all great, but I know sometimes life gets busy. After all, someone has to hold down a job to buy all that doggie food! If you’re short on time, you can always pull your puppy close to give him a few minutes of belly rubs, ear scratches and lots of loving talk. This helps lower both your blood pressures, release endorphins and helps your dog feel calm and safe. Don’t underestimate the power of puppy love in a world that just won’t slow down.
Paws and kisses,
