The new year is nearly upon us, and that means lots of changes ahead. While many people will make resolutions to change their habits, exercise routines and diets in the new year, we think it’s a lot more fun to change up your living space.
But changing up the look of your home doesn’t have to break the bank or even require much work. Here are our favorite easy ways to change up your home for 2017.
The focal point of any bedroom is, of course, the bed. Add depth color to your bedroom or guest room with some printed throw pillows. For a whole new look, add throw pillows in solid, complementary colors in different shapes and sizes. One of our favorite trends right now is grouping pillows in soft textures and light, neutral colors, and then adding some sparkle with a champagne or rose gold sequined pillow. Pick up a solid throw blanket while you’re at it, and your room is all set for a fabulous new year!
Kitchen and dining room
We absolutely love bright, jewel-toned glassware on a classic farmhouse table for a beautiful fusion of two different styles. Add plates, chargers and fun cloth napkins in alternating colors and various prints to give your dinner table a whole new look. To bring that new look to your kitchen, add some dish towels, pot holders and trivets in the same colors as your new glassware.
Changing up your living room doesn’t have to involve moving the couch or even changing the curtains. Dress up your coffee table with new decor to add some new textures and colors to this room. A short stack of vintage books on a tray with flowers in a decorative vase is a fun and easy trend to pull off and is perfect for a coffee table, side table or even an oversized ottoman.
But we all know that coffee tables were made for candles, so be sure to stock up on your favorite brands and scents while you’re in the store this holiday season. And don’t forget about our Buy Four, Get One Free special on Trapp candles!
The entryway is easy to overlook, because let’s face it — who spends time in their entryway? But remember: This is the space that will make a first impression on your guests. Brighten up your entryway by adding a large colorful rug to catch visitors’ eyes and warm up the space. Rugs absorb sound and can take an all-tile entryway from spare and echoey to vibrant and friendly.
Looking for a little more? Add a shallow bench with some more colorful pillows, a woven basket of blankets and front-door boxwood wreath, and you’ll have yourself a whole new home for the new year.
